It was a perfect night back in the summer of February 2023 and my beautiful wife & I were ready to take our dog Ziggy for his evening walk. Ziggy is a 5 year old Koolie, a total sweetheart and a proper ratbag. Not always, but sometimes a “traveller” in hand makes all the difference if you’re walking big Zig.
The idea was to take some wine with us on our walk but all we had was one of those insulated tumblers. Sure, it’s ok but you couldn’t NOT hold it. It didn’t fit in your pocket or your bag. It felt like we needed something better.

That night I got started on brainstorming the perfect flask for a scenario exactly like this one. A bottle that could hold two glasses of wine and was still compact enough to fit in your pocket. It wasn’t long before I realised I was reinventing the classic hip flask, except this one was better. One that was bigger but still fit in your pocket. One that had a larger lid for easy fill and was nice to sip. Reusable and sustainable but most importantly it was a flask for everyone. Not some cliche “what to get dad for Fathers Day” gift. Bright colours and something that could be customised to suit your personality.
Fast forward six months and my closest friends and I were road testing prototypes all over Melbourne with incredible results. Leakproof, super durable and it felt good in your hand. Which brings us to now… The Dr Hip is ready to go!
It doesn’t have to be wine. It can be water, it can be shots of your favourite spirit. That’s up to you.
I’m pretty sure it’s not the most romantic thing I've ever done for my wife but it’s probably top 5. The Dr Hip is for her, us, and now for you too.
